At the 1966 U.S. Open at The Olympic Club in San Francisco, Arnold Palmer owned a seven-shot lead with just nine holes left inhis pursuit of a second U.S. Open. But Billy Casper shot a final-round 68 to Palmer's 71, and both tied at 2-under 278. Casper went on to defeat Palmer and win the title in a playoff.
